Staycation meme

I decided to pinch this meme from Memphis Steve.

I had a colonoscopy yesterday, just a standard one coz we have bowel cancer in our family. It was all good, nothing abnormal to report.  Hurrah for that.

Now on with zee meme:

Something that’s holding you back from achieving your dreams:
Money and experience.  Thankfully both of those are attainable so some day I shall get there.

Something you think you could win an award for:
Procrastination. I’m ever so efficient at it. Why has no one recognised this…
Something you fear more than anything:
Um. Public transport. It brings out panic attacks in me. Not sure why, lack of control maybe?
Something you wish people would understand:
Mental illness. Maybe not understand, but have empathy. It’s horrible the way mentally ill people are stigmatised and treated 😦
Something that keeps you going everyday:
Chocolate
Something amazing that happened last summer:
I got well, I lost weight, I was able to live again
Something you hate that people say:
“LOL”. Not when they’re talking, but in text messages etc. They’re not really laughing out loud and it’s lazy speak. Drives me nuts.
Something you refuse to pay money for:
I don’t know. There’s lots of things I would rather not pay money for, like having to pay for parking at the beach (blatant revenue raising) but there’s not much I actually refuse.
Something you wish you could have told that person that you never saw again:
I love you more than anything and I owe you such gratitude for moulding me into the adult I am today.
Something that really stands out about last year:
Almost dying, spending 4 months in hospital. Yup, pretty big stand out for me.
Something you like that everyone else thinks is weird:
Oh where do I start…. a lot of what I like people think is weird.
Something you do when you’re trying to calm down:
Breathe deeply
Something you do when you wake up at three AM:
Grumble. Let the cat out. Pee. Wonder if I will go back to sleep again.
Something amazing that’s happened this year:
The birth of my niece, she’s adorable and I’m constantly amazed at how smitten I am by this tiny human child.
Something you love doing on cold rainy days:
If it’s a weekend I love lying in bed listening to the rain. I miss having a tin roof.  I also like getting out and walking in rain, if it’s not windy.  And if I have an umbrella.  I’m a heater whore, you can find me parked in front of the heater on cold days!
Something you listen to when you’re in a really good mood:
Dance music
Something that irritates you more than anything:
Bad personal hygiene. It’s not that hard to shower, put on deodorant, clean yourself up. Really it’s not.
Something you’re addicted to/can’t stop doing:
Buying Leona Edmiston dresses. That said, it’s been over a month. I’m starting to go into withdrawal…
Something that really stands out about you:
I’m noisy. Someone told me I have a ‘presence’ the other day. She meant that I garner attention I think. I don’t know. I don’t often think of myself in that way. I’m just me. Some people have called me intimidating, but I’m so not. *shrugs*
Something about you that’s like everyone else:
I eat, I sleep, I drink, I go to the toilet.  I also breathe. Most of the time.
Something that makes you change the channel:
Most things. I don’t watch a lot of TV. Political ads drive me bonkers, instant mute or channel change.
Something you think about every night before you go to sleep:
How pleased I am that it’s bed time!
Something that you don’t think will ever change about you:
Probably most things. I am who I am, most of me is pretty good, I’m in no screaming hurry to change anything.
Something about you that you think will soon change:
It will be bed time and I will have to go to bed and sleep. Aaaah sweet sleep.
Something that broke your heart as a child:
My cat Sebastian dying
Something that really sparks your interest:
Creative stuff, music, chocolate
Something that truly disgusts you:
Humanity, at times
Something the opposite gender has complimented you on:
Nothing? I can’t remember. Probably nothing I can write here.
———————————————————————————
Today I had lunch at Two Birds, One Stone with a lovely old colleague of mine. Well not so much old, he’s only 26, or 25, oh crap. He’s just a spring chicken. It’s been nearly 2 years since we last caught up, how that happened I’m not sure. But anyway, it was lovely. He’d brought me back a glass cat all the way from Vienna. 15 months ago. Ha ha ha! Amazing ❤  I ate far too much, felt sick, but now I’m all good.  It’s just started raining outside, perfect weather for reading or lazing in front of the heater!!
As usual, I’ll exit with some pics.

  1. LOL! :p

    I miss meme’s.
Glad to hear all went well and all was clear on your bum exploration. 🙂 x

  2. Nice loungy music.

  3. Just a brief comment.

Extraordinary photo of the Sardines. I thought of John Brack.

One cold night in Darling Harbour with no one around my little daughter wanted a ride on a spinning thing that takes you up in the air. I gave the bored attendant some dough and he put her on it. As I watched her go around laughing and shrieking they were playing Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners. The whole situation saddened me for no particular reason. Or maybe it was to do with happiness and life itself being so temporary. But anyway it’s one of my favourite songs when I’m in a carefree mood.

Money has always held me back, especially when needing bail. But you’d bail me out. I know you would.

  4. so glad you are OK with your eating equipment. the most important thing we all do. I love my teeth as well.
photos are all great (and so is RH when he is on form) and your friend in green looks totally arresting. conspicuous attire requires excellent behaviour eg
    “what was The Perpetrator wearing?”
A: “a grey hoodie and jeans”

    “what was The Perpetrator wearing?”
    A: ” A bright green suit”

here is a gift for the cool cats

    It mesmerises me into hysteria.
    love from
